SUMMARY

The primary function of an Executive Sales and Business Development is to create and generate more business for the Transportation and Contract Logistics Operations, through the company's service offering.

The Executive Sales and Business Development will be responsible to develop and maintain customer relationships by developing effective, cost efficient rates, service level performance, and customer satisfaction. This role serves in sales capacity, account management, and communicates with both internal and external customers, and contract vendors. It is the task of this role to create value and a win-win situation for both the customer as well as the company through continuous improvement initiatives. This includes the in-depth understanding of the business processes and the supply of the customer to identify constantly opportunities for improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships, assessing customer specific opportunities and its needs.
  • Promote company's services to include and not limited to Transportation (LTL, Drayage, FTL, P&D's, Over-The-Road, etc...) and Contract Logistics (Storage Service, Value Added Service, Inventory Management, Order Management, Transload, Etc...)
  • Keep up an accurate and Up-To-Date CRM (Customer Relationship Management) report - maintains customers profile report and follow up on leads.
  • Responsible for creating KPI's (Key Performance Indicator) to report sales to include and not limited to (wins, losses, prospects, projected revenue, projected forecast, etc...)
  • Business bridge between operations and customer, assist in filtering and prioritizing sales opportunities (to include responses to RFI, RFQ/RFP)
  • Respond to customer inquiries in Request for Information (RFI) or Request for Quote or Pricing (RFQ/RFP) proposals
  • Responsible for creating QBR (Quarterly Business Review) data reports, and other management reports
  • Responsible in creating rate proposals responses for customers and document pricing assumptions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Cultivate new sales leads to establish business
  • Responsible for securing and maintaining new business
  • Ability to make phone calls and spend several hours on the phone prospecting new business

  • Proactively identify problems and implement effective solutions

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in sales experience in Freight Forwarding / Contract Logistics
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four year college or University; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of any industry related course is an asset.
  • Proven track record in sales and business development

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; basic navigational skills in Excel spread-sheeting a must.
  • Ability to effectively navigate the internet and perform searches a must.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases such as a locator system or (WMS) warehouse operating systems (TMS) Transportation Management System, and CRM platforms.
  • Knowledge of third party small parcel system such as UPS and FedEx is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics includes working outside and inside the warehouse/distribution facility; working around machines with moving parts; working around moving objects and vehicles; exposure to dampness, humidity, outdoor temperature; slippery or even walking surfaces. The position frequently comes in close proximity to power equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, and power conveyors.
