REPORTS TO: Technical Director

Monday to Friday 

7am to 3:30 pm 


Responsible for accurate and timely processing of routine laboratory testing and procedures required by the various type of products produced.


Conduct routine microbiological and analytical sample testing and process final results.

Follow all laboratory manual policies, procedures, and instructions.

Log in all incoming samples and results.

Provide communications and reports to Customers and Laboratory Management as needed.

Perform all facets of laboratory testing including sample prep, testing setup, results

recording and reporting.

Clean and maintain Hepa filters.

  • Must be strict on aseptic techniques to prep, pour and plate samples.
  • Responsible for testing Pathogens and Quality Indicator bacteria.
  • Investigate and document all Out of Specifications
  • Maintain Autoclave, maintenance and usage,
  • Cleaning of laboratory equipment and maintaining supply inventories.
  • Request replenish on consumables.
  • Suggests laboratory continuous improvement
  • Performs all facets of laboratory housekeeping / sanitation such as washing dishes and glassware, ensuring daily trash removal and maintaining housekeeping / sanitation records. Help is provided as necessary.
  • Performs all facets of media preparations such as measuring, weighing, lifting and moving extremely hot pans of autoclave media and bio-hazardous waste.
  • Pays strict attention to Laboratory Safety procedures and GLP's
  • Maintain quality control and media inventory testing and release records.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
  • Calibrate and maintain scientific equipment and supplies.


A degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science, which includes at least 20 semester hours in microbiology and related subjects geared toward the study of microorganisms, and 20 semester hours in the physical and mathematical sciences combining course work in organic chemistry or biochemistry, physics, and college algebra, or their equivalent; or a combination of education and experience

Courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science, which includes courses as described above plus appropriate experience or additional education

Additional amounts of either specialized experience or directly related education to qualify for higher graded positions. The amount of additional experience or education required depends on the grade of the position.


o Ability to perform HPLC analysis based on USP compendium methods.

o Ability to perform Microbial testing: TPC, Y&M, PET, Pathogens, ID's

o Ability to cross train and lead the efforts within.

o Using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems


Smell - for chemicals or other microbial safety alerts,

Hearing for observation and safety purposes,

Sight for reviewing plate counts and identification of bacterial morphology


Ability to do moderate lifting, up to 35 lbs


o Strong organizational and communication skills.

o Ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet strict deadlines.

o Demonstrates time management skills.

o Using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.

o Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and teach others.

o Other duties as requested.
